Where do car insurance companies get your driving record in CA? - car insurance supermarket

I made a bumper guys while driving a company car for a few years ago, I thought, and filed a complaint, but the company took care of him, and I've never heard of him. I am sure I took my car and DMV driving record and everything that a violation of the safety belt, but no injuries. Is there somewhere a different database that the insurer or check only your DMV records? This can be resolved without the intervention of the insurance and I do not know "want to pay higher prices if its needed. Am I clear?
